I'm a brand new forum member, so I hope I can get some input on this situation.

Two days ago, I noticed a "whump whump whump" noise when making hard right turns. Knowing that a torn CV boot is nothing to fool around with, I contacted my mechanic to get the car in for repair and borrowed my sister's car to run my errands. Today, the car went in to be fixed. Brand new CV boot and joint, but I'm still hearing a faint "whump" sound. Is this a normal thing while the new boot and joint are seating? The other boot/joint assembly is almost 2 years old, and the prior owner had it replaced.

I would take a close look at the sway bar/ARB end links. They can look good but still be worn and make some noise. Put your hand on the end link and have someone vigorously bounce the vehicle up and down. If it is worn you should feel it.

Boot, etc

BobG, thank you for your input. I'll mention that to my mechanic when I see him tomorrow. The other problem I'm having, which began after the whump went away, is a slight shimmy going up hills at 35+ MPH. Then that, too, went away.
