I couldn't find a thread that speaks to brake upgrades like the wicked Subaru Seat post... Apologies if I missed it.

What brake options are out there for SG Forester? Off the top of my head, and in no particular order;
1. WRX 4/2 pot
2. LGT?
3. STI Brembos (does 04 or 05+ matter for 5x100?)
4. STI MC/BB
5. Upgraded pads/rotors

You can do the WRX 4/2 pots. They're a direct bolt on.

You can do the LGT rear kit, which I believe requires an adapter (might be wrong about this).

I did Brembos off of any '04-07 USDM STi. Of course, I needed 5x100 rotors to avoid swapping out hubs/knucks/axles. With that said, the fronts bolt right up no problem, but you do need to bend or drill out the dust plates. The rears needed more work. Instead of ordering specialty rotors, I opted to do it the way I felt was right, and replace the e-brake shoes with larger ones. The kit from GodSpeed brakes in the U.K. includes larger emergency brake shoes, and adapters for the calipers. The kit included every bolt and washer and bracket and shoe I needed. I think I paid like $250 for it. The rears also require a bending or a removal of the dust plate. Careful with this. I just bent mine, instead of removing them, and didn't bend them back far enough. I ended up scoring my rear rotors something fierce.

Stainless lines as specific to the caliper, so make sure you get the right lines.

Stock Forester Brake Information

Forester SF (99-02): All AUDM models
Front: 277x24 vented rotor with 2pot caliper
Rear: 266x10 solid rotor with 1pot caliper

Forester SG (03-08): All AUDM models
Front: 294x24 vented rotor with 2pot caliper
Rear: 266x10 solid rotor with 1pot caliper

Forester SH (09+): All AUDM models*
Front: 294x24 vented rotor with 2pot caliper
Rear: 286x10 solid rotor with 1pot caliper

Front Upgrades (in order of rotor size)

1. 294x24 vented rotor with 2pot caliper
Stock fitment on: Forester X/XS/XT 03+, Outback H6 02+, Liberty B4 02-04, Liberty GT** 02+
Fitment Issues: None
16" rim to clear
Suitable for: SF

2. 294x24 vented rotor with 4pot caliper
Stock fitment on: Impreza WRX 99+, Liberty GT** 02+
Fitment Issues: 16" WRX rim or similar to clear (SG XT 16/17" rim clears, SH XT rim does not clear)
Suitable for: SF, SG, SH

3. 316x30 vented rotor with 2pot caliper
Stock fitment on: Liberty GT 05+
Fitment Issues: 17" rim to clear.
Possible longer brake line (unconfirmed)
Suitable for: SF, SG, SH

4. 326x30 vented rotor with 4pot caliper (Brembo)
Stock fitment on: Impreza STI 02+
Fitment Issues: 17" GDB STI rim or similar to clear.
PCD100 rotor required (02-04 STI).
Suitable for: SF, SG, SH

Rear Upgrades (in order of rotor size)

1. 266x18 vented rotor with 1pot caliper
Stock fitment on: Impreza WRX/STI 99-00, Legacy 93-98
Fitment Issues: Rear dust guard lip removal
Suitable for: SF, SG

2. 290x10 solid rotor with 1pot caliper
Stock fitment on: Forester SH (untested), Liberty 98+, Outback 98+

Rotor (DBA2657) required for adaption to 170mm handbrake from STI 190mm.
Longer brake line (WRX, STI or LibGT)
Suitable for: SF, SG

Notes:
*Rear 2pot (wrx 01-07/sti 02-07) caliper fitment on SH rear requires custom dogbones to fit.
**Liberty GT has a 2pot or 4pot calipers in these years (unconfirmed)
***Confirmed for Liberty version


It hasn't been updated in a while so is missing the SJ and a couple of upgrades available to the SH (e.g. GRB STi rear calipers are a direct bolt on with suitable 5x100 rotors from dba, RDA, Project Mu, etc.)
