My mechanic has replaced the relay for the HVAC blower motor. Both times they have melted. The first time, the I had already replaced the blower motor itself with a unit from the junkyard because I had thought the motor itself was at fault. The mechanic tested the circuit before when he replaced the burned out relay this most recent time at said the motor was drawing to much amperage. He said the motor needed to be replaced again.

I am wondering two things: First, is there a way to test a blower motor to know if it is in fact faulty and thus the cause of the relay burning out?

Second, what are other possible causes of the relay burning out?

May be of some help- search blower motor resistor
Thanks, hillbille. I read a bit about prior problems with the resistor failing such that the fan only blows at full speed. I guess it could short out, draw too much power, and burn out the relay? How could I test that?
