I am about to buy a Harvey Smith EBC. There are two versions, one of which can go past the factory boost setting via a tap into the ECU and using the standard 2 port solenoid. If I were to raise the boost above the OEM 0.8BAR with in reason say, 1.0BAR, what are the chances of wrecking the pistons? This is the less expensive of the 2 units because the other one has a 3 port solenoid included and is a stand alone whereas the less expensive one has to be integrated into the ECU loom. Anyone have an opinion please?

I wouldn't go OVER the 0.8 bar setting, it appears to be mapped safe to that, but no idea beyond that point, thats a pretty good (20% absolute pressure increase) improvement over the stock 0.5! The advantage of the EBC is you should be able to get it sat on the 0.8 bar rather than having to play safe!
