Hi guys,

My 2000 Forester Turbo S has just been written off by someone tailending me severely, so I'm looking for a replacement.

I'm interested in more than the 170bhp standard and have seen a Jap grey import model - c230-250bhp, (quoted) 1998 2.0 S/tb model.

- but insurance quotes so far are double that of my UK model S (and I'm not young)..

Who are the best value insurers for grey imports please?

Is it double because you've just had an accident/claim? yes it wasn't your fault, but insurance companies don't seem to care about that.

Taken from the Keith Michaels link

Any claims?*
...in the last five years, regardless of blame.

I'd get a quote for an s-turbo and see if that's gone up.

If your going for an import then 'usually' the specialist insurers are the best, age, post code, car, driving history etc will all count but the personal call to a specialist is much more likely to pay dividends !
I use A-plan.
Good luck

Thanks guys,

I'll start with A-Plan, then try some of the others for comparison.

It's gone up from £300 for the UK Turbo S to c£600 for the JDM S/tb.....

I'll try a quote again for the UK Turbo S and see what it says...
- although I did that on confused.com for my old one today - which ask about blame claims, not any claims, and the price was the same as before.

I have a T/tb - Post Office - £262.

2 x Eunos Roadsters (i have fitted a supercharger to one and a turbo to the other) - AON - £320 for them both until May 2010

heard good stuff about Adrian Flux

i would try Post Office, - was supprised at the price!

OK - so I missed the S/tb in Manchester that I wanted - but here's the insurance roundup results, in case helps anyone with names not tried :

THESE QUOTES ALL INCLUDE 10,000 miles pa of which 2,000 is BUSINESS USE

Adrain Flux - £690 (treating no fault claim as not settled yet as I hadnt had payout - otherwise would drop to £540) - also S/tb 'not on system' - so was probbaly a quote for UK S Turbo or JDM S -Turbo if there is one.

A-Plan - £565

Post Office - c£590 - but was probably for the UK S Turbo - system wasnt clear on spec.

Allen & Allen (via Call Connection) - £590 + excess of £350

Academy Insurance - (via Call Connection) - £580 inc free breakdown cover you cant remove.

Auto Direct (?) £563

Swinton Special Unit - £540 - excess £350

Tesco - £495 - Excess £350 -not sure they understood the model either

Keith Michaels - £450 - excess £350

Lifesure - (via Call Connection) - £420 - excess £250

So will reconfirm with Keith Michaels and Lifesure once get new vehicle in sights.
