I know that Subaru recommends that we only put chains on the front wheels.
There are a lot of different chainsavailable. I got stuck once in deep snow on a rough PA state game land road at the bottom of a hill. Which brand is best under $100? And where is a good place to buy them? The diamond ones seem to be best. I do not want the cable chains. And, obviously they must be class S.

from my experience chains are near useless on a AWD vehicle. if your willing to spend about 4x your budget and get snow tires, you'll be unstoppable in the snow

I was using dunlop wintersport tires at the time which are performance winter tires. I usually have to drive on the highway then go onto unpaved untreated roads.
