I'm trying to make my forester more capable off-road. Can anyone suggest the best tires and size to use on a stock 2010? So far I've only found the Yokohama Geolandar AT-S and the General Grabber AT2 in the stock 215/65R16 size. I know that we can use alternate tires sizes but only to a certain extent. Thanks in advance.

Those tire and size combinations have been well-reviewed by forum members. They also scored well in this Tire Rack survey.

Aren't there any other tires like Dick Cepek, Super Swampers, Pro Comp, Mickey Thompson or BFGs. Is it really bad for the vehicle to go with bigger tires other than the added weight? I'm not looking to go crazy but just to make it more capable off road with a little higher ground clearance. Maybe just a more aggressive tire like the ones I mentioned above with the same diameter of stock and a lift on the vehicle?

Those offroad tires are going to be too big for your wheelwells,
If they were easy and fit we would all have them;

:biggrin:

the ones that do fit are the yoks and grabbers.
