Howdy Folks,

Idiot move with 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5i (SJ)

My battery died while away on assignment and I can't get the ol' Forester unlocked. This model has only one key assembly and that does not want budge an inch at the moment.

Anyone have any guiding advice on popping the hood externally?

I cannot get into the vehicle with the key or key fob at present. The lock should not be frozen since it was treated with Fluid Film… any ideas or diagnosis welcome.

I'm guessing a little battery corrosion went a long way?

C'est La Vie & Cheers In Advance.

P.S. Subaru of New England is one mighty wonderful organization for rebuilding my top end at no charge.

AAA offers unlocking assistance as one of their member perks. I used them once decade ago with an Accord; it took about 10 minutes - this particular AAA guy worked a tiny air bladder into top of door, inflated it enough to crack door to get at mechanical switch. AAA can join over phone, membership is ~$58/yr. - assistance call same day is probably OK - it would have been OK for my son when I added him to my membership recently.

Decades past, I had left a car un-started for 6 months also, and battery was history. Luck.
