Not my Forester, but our 2017 Legacy has started seeping acid out of the caps on the battery. The car only has 9,000 miles and the battery is the factory original one.

Is the dealer going to give me a hard time about just replacing it under warranty?

Thanks in advance.

Battery is covered for 3 yrs/36k miles. So dealer shouldn’t give you a hard time if still under warranty which sounds like the case.

So the dealer looked at the battery and told me that the amount of acid it was leaking was "normal", and they would not replace it. Then Subaru sent me a survey through email asking me to "rate my experience". I relayed what I was told, and now the dealer is replacing the battery :)

Sluggish battery

2017 Forester almost 2 years old
Recently battery was sluggish to start the engine.
Since it didn't seem consistent I thought the alternator wasn't being told to charge all the time.
Brought to dealer, said battery failed test.
Battery repacked at no charge.
Was told the Subaru labeled battery is actually from Interstate.
Label said 550 CCA

Folks have reported a number of issues with batteries failing on the 2017 Imprezas as well! Glad they are covered by warranty, at least for the first three years.
