how do you know when the crank pulley has gone bad? are there visual signs that tell you is gone bad ?

is there a real actual benefit to the perrin lightweight pulley ?

I know there is a tool to help remove the stock pulley is there one for the perrin pulley?

anytime i've seen a bad harmonic balancer it separates at the rubber and the pully side slides back into the timing cover cutting in grooves. If you take the belts off you may be able to slide the outer portion off the inner portion

the reason a asked is that I had heard it was somewhat common for the rubber sandwiched in the pulley to deteriorate then the pulley fails . but not sure what is considered normal wear or what says replacement time . I am doing the whole timing belt , water pump , tensioner service on it and thought I would replace it while it was torn down for all that stuff . I can see it is looking a little worn but still not sure it's i need of $130 worth of pulley worn
