So after plenty of research looks like if I am just going for sound my best best is to just pick up a universal muffler and have my shop weld one in on my 2.5i Base forester. There is no performance to be had from a catback on this guy.

I occasionally find my self cruising in a higher gear I want because this thing is so quiet. I am use to my sti waking up the town.

Can someone please confirm the inlet I would need to get? Is it 2 1/4" I would also put a straight pipe in the resonator section of the muffler (center of car)

Thanks in advance!

Dunno about welding it in. The NA engine (single exhaust) uses bolted flanges. I've found I like that type of fitting as it makes replacements much easier than other methods.

I confess I've thought about picking up the parts and getting a local shop to build me a replacement end using a Borla muffler.

Ditto. Exact thought I have had. I will bring to my shop and ask.
