I have a 2005 forester 2.5 auto and my AWD light came on when i was trying to get unstuck in the snow and now i only have fwd, it seems to be something electronic, u joints, rearend, and other driveline parts seem to be in working order. Has anyone had this problem or know where i should start in fixing it???

MPT clutch in the 'center diff/tailshaft' could be shot,the plates wear out and get thin, which means the clutch cant lock and send power to the back wheels. Also could be a solenoid on the transmission. Duty C soleniod if i recall correctly?

@Rugburn there may be TCU - transmission control unit codes stored, not sure if you need a Subaru Select Monitor to look for them.
