I have a 2010 Forester with an automatic transmission and would like to covert it to a standard. Would it be easier to replace only the transmission or find a manual transmission and engine from another 2010 Forester and replace both? I know nothing whatsoever about how either part mounts into the frame of the vehicle nor how they fit together. My Forester has the EJ253 2.5L SOHC engine and I was also wondering, if I replace both the transmission and the engine, should look for a FB25B 2.5L DOHC engine with a manual transmission instead? Would that work with the way the engine is mounted into my particular model?
