What is this "eliminator" you speak of? I have to disable the damn thing every time I start the car, via the button on the lower left dash...And I usually forget until I get to a light. I posted about this very problem a week or so ago, here.
It's a gadget that you will need to install that automatically turns off the auto start stop each time you start the car. No more having to be annoyed and more importantly, not wearing out your battery and other components prematurely just to "save" a little gas and "minimize" emissions.

The one in the link takes you to the one I purchased and installed from amazon. It's $29.00 which is way cheaper than buying the other brand that costs $99.00. Not only is the one on amazon cheaper, the install is practically painless. The $99.00 one requires taking off the eyesight panel and several other steps that I did not want to deal with.

The instructions and steps are super easy to follow. Do a youtube search for auto start stop eliminators for more details and, to get an idea of what's happening and how to do it.

Take care.

Wow. Sounds good. I have an extended “Gold Warranty” til 52.5k miles, maybe I should wait until that’s up? You know they’ll weasel out of covering something should I need, based on after-market add on”?

Watched the video, easy enough! You’ve had this how long?

Roughly six months I guess.

Regarding the warranty, I don't see how this would or could cause issues mechanically. The auto stop start still works, it simply gets turned off via a logic switch. If you're concerned you can always simply unplug it whenever you take it to a dealer for work and reinstall once you get home. I'm not worried about it that's for sure. Not only am I still under the factory warranty, I also bought the extended stuff. So anyway, all I can say is that I'm happy with it and apparently a bunch of others also.

OK then, take care

Apparently I have an abnormally light touch when braking, as I notice the start/stop is very sporadic. So when it does kick in, I find it very jarring and I am not getting used to it. So I may just have to pay the $99 for the eliminator. Almost three months with the car and I have saved a whole 1.25 gallons of gas. Not exactly an amount of savings that is going to help my pocketbook, let alone any impact on the whole planet.

There is a feature to turn it off. You just have to do so each time you start it
There may be a feature to turn it off however the default setting is always ON. Having to disable it each time you are going to drive is a bit annoying and honestly I forget to turn it off most of the time. Simple solution would be to let the driver chose the default setting, not a forced ON default setting. Not very user friendly in my book especially since It's been established that an older battery causes issues to this feature.

@Hamlet Min. Just about every car manufacturer has or will have auto start stop. It's something that isn't likely to go away soon. It's not just a Subaru thing. You're going to be disappointed with whatever newer car you purchase in the price range.
Simple solution: Let the driver chose default setting especially when the battery causes problems to said feature.

Yes. I’ve been using it. After repeated usage of said feature, how long before that switch fails ?
Good point. I thought that exact same thing the day I bought the vehicle. I would prefer letting the driver chose the default setting that way everyone is happy.

I installed the $99.00 accessory on my 2019 Forester and it took about 15 minutes in all. It's mounted below the drivers seat and it simply plugs in. Very simple. Six months ago, when I traded my 2019 for a 2022 Forester, I unplugged it from the 2019 and installed it into my 2022. Maybe a total of 30 minutes. The hardest part is figuring out the connection under the drivers seat.

You have 3 options, well 4 or 5.

1) You can spend $99 and install the plug and play device to do the work of pushing a button for you.

2) You can spend $5 and do the DIY method. Requires minor skills.

3) You can just exercise your finger and your brain to remember to push the button.
Look at it as a way to stave off getting semile. :)

4) You can contine to complain about it, and car manfactures will continue to do what keeps them in good graces with EPA related red tape from the governments around the world. Or you can embrace it, and go on with life.

Auto Start - Push button ignition - good gawd when is it all gonna end.

When I bought my 2017 Forester and my recent 2021 Tacoma I insisted on none of that b.s.

Thank gawd Tacoma doesn't have this stupid auto-start b.s. and thank gawd I got a real Key. These key fob push button start up things are just another thing to break. If you have the option turn that crap off and leave it off. Can you imagine how often the starter is going to go out with that auto-start junk?... plus the engine needs to run to circulate fluids - I live in Phoenix - don't need my engine to get any hotter than it already does.

The fob/push-to-start is another thing that can break but if we’re being honest it’s also replacing a different thing that can break. Keys, locks, and the ignition slot can all break.

Has anyone had excellent or otherwise experience installing this version of the Autostop Eliminator?

AE026 - Fits all Subaru Forester trims and options. Installs overhead behind the stereo camera.

I would avoid getting one where you have to install behind the camera, their are easier ones out their to install and yes may be more expensive but why take a chance with misalignment problems.

I have the Autostop Eliminator that installs in the Eyesight shroud. I didn't want to mess with that area, but it was the only reliable option I could find at the time. 1+ year in, and it's still working perfectly.

I was very nervous about getting near the cameras, but upon removing the plastic cover found that the camera assembly is very solidly bolted to the roof/frame of car. As long as you don't bang on it or touch the lenses, you should be fine.
