Unfortunately, the 2022 Foresters don't have the RAB so this won't work. My wife hates this feature and I'm trying to disable it permanently....
I believe that is an incorrect statement. AFAIK, Subaru hasn’t eliminated RAB on any existing models. It may not be standard/available on the trim level of your vehicle, however.

Here's a link to an excellent DIY solution based on a $5 time delay relay and a few miscellaneous connectors. It electrically simulates the act of waiting for a moment after starting the car, and then pressing the button. So it's not dependent on compatibility with any modern digital communications protocol which might be subject to change with different model years. Utter simplicity!

Yes, it takes a bit of electrical knowhow to construct it, but it's pretty straightforward.

I have yet to install the one I bought. I guess it hasn't gotten to the appropriate level of annoyance yet. :ROFLMAO:

Or I may just repurpose it for something else...

Poking around their site shows they are ready to verify a new harness for the 2022 models which don't have RAB. They will provide a free unit plus pay $300, but are located in WV.

I read somewhere something interesting.
If you have a trailer hook and plug in a dummy in the connection plug , the auto start stop will not work when the cars thinks it is pulling something.
This maybe only on European versions.
Worth a try.

@Senda I thought that was the case!

I bought the gizmo that plugs in under the driver's seat. It's incredible. I have no regrets. I'm very very happy I did it. I'm an old car guy, and an old mechanical engineer. Most engine wear starts on startup (when cold). I am happy I can switch this feature off. Car makers make money two ways. Selling cars. Selling parts for cars when they break.

I wish I had a car with A-S-S so I could do this! Great mod!!!
But being an engineer I would probably opt for the $5 time delay relay DIY approach.
Curious, would you put it on a plate and mount it below the driver's seat also and are there other applications where this relay could work in ant Autos?

Resurrecting a not-quite-dead thread...

I decided to let donkey do its thing for 14000 miles (shhh! don't tell anyone I put that many miles on in three months)

It took 9300 miles for me to save 1 gallon of gasoline (9280 actually). That wasn't "normal" driving as there was a 4000 mile road trip in there. Over the next 4700 miles of "normal" driving I saved an additional 0.68 gallons of gas. So maybe this feature saves me a gallon every 7500 miles or so, or about 1 in 250 gallons. Sounds totally worth prematurely replacing batteries and starter motors.
