Hi,
Some Joker of an HGV driver has just written off my wife's beloved Forester XT.
I had only just bought a set of Winter tyres and wheels!
Her car was a 2006 model and we will probably get a newer version.
Does anyone know if the later models have the same wheel size, offset etc.?
Her Summer wheels are 17 X 7JJ with 215/55R17 & Winter wheels are 16 X 6.5JJ with 215/60R16
Thanks for your help!

Ask to buy it back from the insurance company it will probably be about £200 then sell the usable parts on here or on an auction site .
I know 100 pcd will fit up to 2007model, which yours are , wouldn't know about later models @don1952 may confirm .

Any idea on pricing of the wheels? That might give you some more interest.

How did the Foz fare vs an HGV !? Most of the bigger companies generally run dashcams now so hopefully the process shouldn't be too painful.

If the engine was running, it must be worth a couple hundred to someone in need of an engine if they've just blown their headgaskets etc.
Likewise the headlights must be worth a couple quid, as they're known to get moisture inside and take the ballasts with them

The HGV trailer scraped the side just after the b pillar!
Luckily there are witnesses.
The car was in very good condition, and I had just paid £00s on a stainless exhaust.
I am considering buying the car back (not had a write off figure from insurers yet), wife isn’t too keen having it sat around!

No worries...That’ll polish out 😎

Seriously though - if the tailgate door and opening are not damaged, that could be a lot less trouble than you think:
Replacement used door (lower door trim undamaged if needed).
Bumper just scratched, so paint only.
Wheel arch damage is minimal.
New rear light.

Which just leaves the rear quarter to be cut out or pulled out prior to a bit of paint.

Where abouts are you? I know a good repairer/painter, but only helps if you are close, as he will need to see it.

All this is predicated on it being manual with not too many miles and pre-March 2006, as an auto or later (high tax) car is likely not worth it.

id imagine any work on that rear quarter would need the petrol tank removed ,also it would need to be mounted on a jig such as a Auto Robot to pull that massive dent out so the rear light cluster could be re-fitted plus the rear glass would need to be removed and re-fitted .
A lot of nice parts tho .

Unfortunately it is the higher tax bracket and an automatic!
Still waiting for the write off figure from the insurers!

The Foz held up very well ! I was expecting far more damage.

Apparently the B-Pillar on the Forester was one of the strongest of any vehicle at that time.

@Charmer Has the written off Forester gone now ?
If not, does it happen to have the rear towing eye underneath the rear bumper on the driver's side? I'm currently after one.

Unfortunately the car was collected by the insurance company before Christmas.
