Subaru Forester
Car Year: 2004

So here is my 2004 forester XS. She might not look that pretty now and might not be that fast, but give it some time and I'm sure she will look pretty... probably not fast though...

Dude come visit me to grab the K&N. That's a good drive for that.

Hey also, you wanna help me swap my carpet? I've got a 19mm STI rear sway bar with your name on it. :D
Could've sworn the stock STi bars were 20mm f/r although I haven't mic'd mine sitting in the garage so I dunno (actually, I need to buy a digital mic....)

Also, guess you don't want/need my help with the carpet then eh?

I figured you're up to your neck in insurance issues. :/ I'd make it a group effort with a BBQ if you all wanted. Hang out, have a laugh. Swap a carpet.

I read one year of the STI had a 19, and I measured it with my digital caliper at 19 so.. :/

Interesting on the bar sizing.

As for this weekend and the carpet swap/BBQ, that's up to you guys. I am up to my neck dealing with the I durance and trying to figure out how it's all gonna play out but that doesn't mean I can't help others.
Ya one of the years (09 I believe.) was 19mm. Still better than whatever mine is. (Stock 04 is 17mm i think...)

We need to plan this BBQ though. Maybe not this weekend, but perhaps in the next few? Maybe after this insurance issue calms down and my school is over.
Take a drive to XXX and grab a burger + RB Float???
Took your advice. Chose four friends and offered me to drive them to XXX burgers for food. Did that then went to Snoqualmie Falls. Then dropped everyone off. Such a great time haha.

Also spotted this Red 08 Forester Sport with the brake light spoiler, black taillights and Sti hood scoop. Saw it at its house in Kent. Tried to find it here on SF.org, but couldn't. Could of made a new friend :icon_confused:
Did you happen to take any pictures of your sway bar install with mount modifications? Might be a nice DIY for anyone else who doesn't have the STI sway bar hangers.

Good Idea!
Although I forgot to take pictures its super easy to explain.

So on monday I picked up a STi rear sway bar from Josh (thebeephaha). This thing is a direct swap except for the exception of the rubber brushings that go onto the sway bar.

So the rubber brushings for both sway bars look like this:

STi:

Forester:

As you can see the STi brushings have a lip at each end. The issue with this is that the metal clasp that goes around the brushing that is on the forester will not fit with these lips.

Using the dremel I cut off the little lips on the STi brushing at the point indicated by the scissors picture.

With the lip off the Sti brushings where pretty much the exact same size as the forester brushings and thus fit with the forester clasps.

I also got a K&N filter from Josh. Ordered my cleaning kit from amazon, got it, cleaned it up and installed it.

And shiny car  :

Plus this pictures shows the spoiler color being different a little better.

Awesome car and mods!
I manage a rental home in West Seattle near Alki Beach and have driven past your car multiple times. By happen stance I clicked on your journal and low and behold, your car was the one I have been impressed with each time I am in the neighborhood!

Haha sweet! That means alot to me.
I really wish I could do more engine and stance type mods but im stuck with interior and exterior for now. Some stiffness upgrades but mainly doing it for looks now.

If you ever see me working outside dont be afraid to stop and say hi!
Will do for sure! Always a good time to chat with a fellow Forester owner :discomonkey: One thing I haven't been able to figure out is a Seattle Subaru meet. You know of any?
Aww man you just missed a big one: Photos From the Tacoma Forester Meet

The next biggest one I know of is the BigNWSubaruMeet in Bremerton in July.
Heres some info on it: The largest annual Subaru festival and motorsport event in the NW! - July 28th, 2013 - Big Northwest Subaru Meet

Other than that I dont know too much about local meets. The person to ask on the Forum would be Dayrunner22. Send him a private message and he will help you out. He also lives on Alki not to far away from where I live.

The meet in Tacoma looked like a blast! Thanks for the info. I know what I am doing on the 28th!

So I forgot to post this, but last week I picked up an XT hood for $100. Originally the person wanted $200 for the hood but over that last weekend a tree fell over and hit the hood on the left side at the very edge where the hood attaches to the car. (If you look on your car its the pointy part of the hood that is at the most left part near your windshield.)

It honestly wasnt that badly damaged at all, but he dropped the price to $100 because of this. So after picking it up I used a rubber mallet and a vise to straighten it up. The underside bonnet (what gives the hood its rigidity) was not effected at all, just the top cover layer. I easily straightened it out and then used some body filler to smooth it out.

While I had the bondo out I decided why not fix some curb rash?

After doing this I sanded and primed the wheels. I HATE the hypersilver color they come in, so before I mount tires on the wheels (whenever that happens) I will paint them a dark grey. But as for now they are just primed and waiting a sand and basecoat.

For the hood I was planning on painting it and getting it mounted right away. I sanded it down, primed it, sanded the primer and began putting on a base coat. I used Rustoleum Aluminum paint. This is a super close match to PSM and for only $4 a can is a great deal compared to the $22 paint scratched color matched cans.

After the last coat I began to let it dry, but then my younger brother accidentally got a tennis ball onto the paint job and ruined the whole thing. So I just waited for the hood to dry and I put it on the side of the house. Ill have to retry the paint job later. Alot of work (and money) wasted. :icon_confused:

So Im either going to try again later when I become less busy, (probably in a month) or ill go with a different plan. Too bad I couldnt get the hood on the car this week though and start working on that Top mount transmission cooler.

So the other plan that I was referring to was maybe plastidipping the entire car. This is a super cheap and fun looking alternative to painting the car, plus I can choose a number of colors.

I always thought plastidipping your car was kind of a joke and looked pretty dirty and "cheapy".
That is until I went to the Tacoma Griots Meet.

See the Blue and Black Impreza closest to the camera? Ya thats plastidipped using light blue and black plastidip. After talking to him I found out a local company called FineLineDips did it for him. This car looked so clean up close and It looked smooth like vinyl. I didnt even know it was plastidip until I asked.

So I was thinking maybe for the hell of it I would plastidip my car at the end of the summer. Maybe do an all light blue. If I did it myself It would run me less and $250. It would be a fun, easy, cheap, and kinda cool project.
