Good morning

im after a little help, im building a porsche 911 replica kit car and i have sourced a 2001 forester EJ engine to use in it, the engine is currenly still sat in the forester, now i know il need the loom, ecu and the key/transponder ring around the barell but is there also an immobiliser unit i need or does the transponder ring plug straight into the ecu?

if i do need this immobiliseer box where is it located on a forester? i need to tell the guy at the breakers yard so he can remove it for me otherwise i could end up with an engine that is unuseable!

thanks in advance

Boxer engine is an interference design as far as valve clearances go, so I would do the timing belt change on it unless it has been done very recently. Excellent choice of engine to mimic a genuine Porsche mill... you're maintaining the opposed cyl design layout
