I have a 99 forester with auto tranny. messed up my pressure control solenoid and the dealership wants $250 for the little bugger. So I went shopping and got a whole tranny off a website for $250. It was advertised as a '99 but it is different than mine and I am guessing it came off of a 98. Few questions regarding the matter:

1.) Are these transmissions interchangable? Can I throw the 98 on my 99 if I ever needed to?

2.) Do they both have the same pressure control solenoid or are they different? I ripped off the tranny pan and it looks different - no solenoids were visible like on the '99 but I'm thinking it might be deeper?

If anyone could give me some insights on these questions that would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Sorry, I can't help you on the question of interchangeability but I would be interested in taking that tranny off your hands if it is of no use to you. I have a 98 with a noisy trans I would like to replace. I'm in Red Deer.
