Subaru's CVT is a completely different animal to Nissan's Jatco CVTs.

And to think Jatco built the almost indestructible 4EAT and 5EAT that Subaru used for years.

I'll always give credit to Nissan's version of Eyesight for saving my life. But when it came time to buy you couldn't have given me a Rogue (with ProPilot) for free. Not with their awful CVT.

190K is quite an accomplishment for that fine piece of craftsmanship from Belvidere, IL (go Bucs!) I remember them as rentals too. Often they had no cruise control or CD player....and this was in 2008. Even Yarises and Versas in rental fleets had that stuff back then!

A. No high-torque vehicles (eg heavy trucks) use a CVT, preferring fixed gears for reliability.

Seriously, how much is (insert marketing department of a Subaru competitor here, but most likely Kia) paying you to write this garbage?

Behold the New Holland T9-600. Most powerful CVT-equipped tractor on the market. Rated at 605 hp and 1875 ft/lbs (2540 Nm) of torque. Available with a CVT or a traditional semi-automatic "powershift". Of the ones I see for sale the split is about 50/50.

@FelineFreddie Case-IH and New Holland have become increasingly badge engineered in recent years. They're both owned by Fiat. However, all the major brands including John Deere, AGCO (Massey Ferguson, Fendt etc) Deutz, Kubota and others offer one kind of CVT or another in their farm and construction equipment.

You can even get a CVT in a Lamborghini.....
