Hello
I have a 2020 Forester Touring. Looking to add a trailer hitch. The dealer says they want add a class 1, but I want a class 2. Does putting a class 2 on void my warranty?
just want to put a cargo plate on rear for extra luggage.
many advice is welcome.

No it doesn’t void your warranty but if you’re doing a cargo tray I’d advise you to bump that hitch up to a Class III.

Class 3 means 2"x2" receiver and more compatible with hitch accessories. No reason to choose class 1 or 2.

My experience has been that when using an attachment that is levered out from the hitch the Class III, being beefier, does not bounce as much and, as the previous poster said, there is more availability of equipment with a 2” receiver.
