My 2020 Premium has openings for foglights and I'm guessing it may already be wired for them (there's a foglight position on the light switch stalk).

I haven't yet crawled under the vehicle to check for wiring, but I'm hoping this might be a plug and play kind of situation. Does anyone have experience adding these?

I asked my sales person and he thought it would be the case, but said I should get a genuine Subaru set, which looks very expensive $200?

This past winter I installed the Subaru Fog Light kit on my 2019 (SK Forester - same as yours). Easy plug and play. I didn't even pull the wheel well liner or the engine underpanel as suggested in the instructions. IIRC, I reached down past the headlights and popped out the round centers, then put my fingers in and pulled the front panels out. Pull the wiring into place, and attach to the lamps. I slipped the lamps in, and secured them from in front and from above.

The dash panel was two screws, and pull. The switched popped in and the wiring was right there. The relay is #4 spot on the aux relay box on the passenger side.

That's the good news. Half hour to install it all. The dash symbol even illuminates when they are on.

Bad news?

The dash switch position is inconvenient. When I 'created' a kit for my Toyota, I also sourced a replacement steering column light switch with the fog light ring. But I'm not sure if there is a "T" in the wiring harness to support both options.

The fogs use a 19 watt H16 bulb. Dim fogs.... You'll probably do as I did and get some LED emitters of similar or lower power draw that will yield about 3x the light. The pattern is still pretty close to stock.

The 2019 doesn't have the fog switch on the headlight/turn signal stalk?

I used Alla lighting H16 Switchback LEDs that switch between white and amber.

Just have to blip the switch to change color. The white is great for back roads, and the amber works better in snow/fog/rain. Less glare bouncing back.

Fog Light Kit
Part Number: H4510SJ000

I installed this in my Premium. If I were to do it again, I would install Diode Dynamic fogs (I have my eye on a set now).

Note that the fog light kit is merely a kit that includes all the necessary parts - meaning that there parts are each available separately. So, one can get the just the switch and install your own lights, for example.

@Black21Limited There is no switch on the turn signal stock in the Premium trim. Your Limited, like a 2020 Limited, will have the fog light switch on the turn signal stalk.

There are tons of threads on this topic. Search is your friend. Here are some to get you started:

I only asked because OP has a Premium, and states that the switch is on the stalk.

There wasn't enough curiosity to go digging for an answer. If @Fibber2 never replied, I probably would have just shrugged it off.

But I do appreciate your answer. :)

It sounds like the OP's 2020 came with hardware (stalk switch) that my 2019 did not.

Actually Fibber2, no, I was wrong. I was dazzled by all the other items on the stalk and thought there was a foglight position. But from your very detailed post, it looks like there is still wiring for a switch on the instrument panel. Thank you!

Sorry to hear that, as the foglight switch on the stalk is far more intuitive than trying to find it on the dash. As I said, I removed the column shroud and changed the whole light switch assembly on my 2008 Toyota Sienna LE when I did this. The old one came out, the new went in with a screw and a clip, and the wiring harness had the leads. The upgraded switch assembly was maybe $75.

It's a much bigger deal on the Subaru. From the manual, it looks like you must remove the steering wheel, air bag, clockspring, etc., to even reach the switch. And it's not cheap for the upgraded part. So I opted to just accept the dash switch.

I looked at the Diode Dynamics housings and priced up all the parts for a 'roll your own' build. I decided on the kit with aftermarket emitters that I can change at will as new products come along.

Plastic lenses on all today. My 2014 Outback was the last I had with glass.

Yep, my 2021 is plastic.

If it didn't already come with fog lights I would have went with aftermarket, if I even bothered.

The factory lights in my 2010 Impreza were also plastic, and destroyed when I bought it. I never did get around to installing anything in their place. Even though I had some lights I could have made work.

The Impreza fog light kit from Subaru was $450. That wasn't happening...

IIRC, the kit was around $210. The relay can be sourced from multiple places for $10, but the switch is Subaru custom and runs $50. Ouch... so the kit really isn't worth the price, but it is complete and with led emitters it performances respectfully well.
