I picked up a 2020 Forester 3 weeks ago and started to notice that there are smudge marks/oxidation behind the plastic screen. It's not a clean screen anymore. This is frustrating because it's a brand new car and wasn't there at delivery.

I took it back to the dealership and they've never seen this before. They said to come back next week when they're less busy.
Is this screen removable (to wipe down), or is it one part (gauge cluster) and the screen comes attached?

Yeah that's condensation! This is a warranty issue ,tell them to take care of it now, and make sure they open a R.o_On it so your covered if they put you off again! Send certified letter to dealer that demands the repair. that will get their attention. "Come back when we are less busy." That's bs! Hope this helps sorry to be confrontational

If it is condensation, it will disappear when the humidity is lower and/or when the temperature is warmer.
It's very easy to check... and eliminate.
Get a hair blow dryer and blow it on the gauge(s) affected.
Condensation will very quickly disappear, and that is the likely problem.
The dealer will do the same thing. Try it yourself first.

Subaru blow dryers! Standard with every new Subaru......... awesome!
Nope - Not standard or available via the Subaru parts catalog.
The "Professional Series Gauge Drying Tool" is only available to the service departments of authorized dealerships who know the "secret handshake".
It is impossible to get the same results at home..

"Less busy"? I think that means come back after the holidays. Not a good sign.

When I had a rattle in the driver's grip handle on our new Forester, dealer took care of it right away--ordered a replacement part, had it replaced in a few days. No rattle.

It may be worth it to check out another dealer even if it's a little farther away. I have a dealer closer to me but their yelp review is quite a bit lower than the one I go to that's a bit farther away (and bought the car from) so I make the drive but the service is always stellar.

Don,t ever believe a dealer when they tell, you they,ve never seen a problem before!
Call to make a service appointment, make sure your complaint is listed clearly on the service documentation and keep all your, paperwork in order.
Car is under warrantee, and they have to repair.

Final Update:
I took it back early January to the dealership with an appointment. They removed the plastic screen and attempted to wipe it clean from behind. That did not solve the issue. They then ordered a brand new part (under warranty) and asked me to come back once the part arrived. I took it again on January 20 and they fixed the issue for me. They installed the part and I now have a clean screen. Thanks all.
