Hello guys,

I have a Subaru Forester 2020 and it has 5000 miles / 8000 KMs on it. Today, when I went on a road trip to the contryside, I started hearing some crackling/popping noise from the windshield. The location of the sound from the windshield is random, meaning that it comes sometimes from the driver's side, center or the passenger's side. The noise starts appearing at speed of 50 mph / 80 kmph. At speed lower than 50 mph, the sound is not noticeable.

I understand that countryside has dirt and small rocks on the road, but my car was the only car driving on the road. I think this means that the rocks couldn't have been flowing in the air before they hitted my windshield.

The temperature outside was 77 F / 25 C and I had my A/C on and set to 66 F / 19C.

The frenquency of appearance of the crackling noise was reduced, althought not completely gone, when I came back to the city.

Have you guys experienced anything similar or do you know what the problem is?

Thank you very much!

Mine does that too sometimes. Worries me that it will crack and the replacements aren’t cheap.
