I just installed them yesterday and it was a really easy job. You only need to drill one hole for each of the front splash guards. The templates make it super easy. Just cut them out, tape them up and be sure to use the proper size bit. I took the advice in the instructions to tape off 3/4" on the bit. I probably didn't need to do that as you're really only drilling through a little bit of plastic. They mounted up perfect and look great. The back ones don't require any drilling at all. Well worth the ~$80.00 IMO. :thumbsup:

I agree they are super easy to install. You don't even need to remove the wheels. I used the actual part as the template. In other words I mounted them with all the other fasteners first, then used the installed part as a locator for the drill. It's only plastic your drilling through. Less than 15 min for all four.
Just installed front splash guards. Australian models dont get the template, instead we get a little dimple as the marker point to drill into which seems odd. May be worth looking to see if the dimples are there. I used a drill bit only and rotated by hand, it was an easy installation.

I am considering the same color mud flaps now that I have installed bigger tires.

I preferred the Weathertech guards since they required zero drilling but, more importantly, they protected more of the areas behind the guards. Had those OEM guards on our ‘15 Outback and ‘18 Crosstrek.......and the OEM parts did almost nothing as fas as coverage, especially in snow and slush......

i did mine a couple of weeks ago and no drilling required; u just take off those plugs and then lineup the guards and plug it back in. theres instructions in the packaging
Since the winter has officially ended here in NH, I can report that I'm very happy with the Weathertech splash guards. Only took several minutes er guard to install, just removal of some pop fasteners and then screwed into existing holes.......they do in fact look OEM, if that's a goal, while providing MUCH better protection than the OEMs. The RockBlok and similar guards are too "ricer racer" in appearance for me although their size would be much better than the factory ones for sure.......

Those do nice over the OEM I admit. My only question is since I also live in the snow belt (Ohio), does a lot of snow jam up in between mud flap and tire? Along with the OEM it looks very narrow in that area. Maybe it's just me and I'm worrying about nothing. Thx!
No snow and ice/slush jammed up in the wheel wells this past winter, my first with the Forester.....and I ALWAYS check before I pull my cars into the garage since I try to keep the floors slush-free as much as practical. My wife's 2018 Crosstrek has the OEM tiny guards and they stay as slush free as the Weathertech ones.......and the Weathertechs DO appear to deflect much of the spray that the OEMS didn't come near to catching...and they look better, IMHO, than the much larger BUT flat, die cut styles that others have used. If you really go off road, perhaps the flat ones are the way to go but for the driving I do which includes plenty of unpaved dirt/gravel roads up to our shooting range and lake, they are very satisfactory.
Best advice ever, used the drill bit and just slowly rotated by hand. Easy install! They look like they won't do much "guarding" but look nice
