I'm not a dealer or ??? but I would think that dealers would want to do fixes for "factory problems" since I assume they get paid for warranty type work and I assume they make money on warranty work. I'm sure you are correct that very few people know about the issue and the upgrade - I probably just want to live in a world where companies want to do the right thing as well as making money on it

The thing is, if I didn't know to ask about updates for the head unit, I would be very unhappy with the issues and think that Subaru makes crappy vehicles and not buy another. Subaru should want the fixes always applied.

Just wondering if anyone else had problems doing the update, I always get "USB authentication was unsuccessful".
I've tried a couple of different USBs - Sandisk, Noname and Kingston. I've tried NTFS and FAT32. I've tried 8GB, 32GB and 128GB. Tried with the car running and with only ignition on. Tried all 3 versions BASE, MID and HIGH.
My version is listed on the PDF as one that should update Rel4.18.11.50, its the 8in Forester Sport. Its the Canadian model that is imported to Israel.

Anyone know why we don't have the equalizer to make changes to the settings for the harmon system? I have HK in my BMW and we are able to adjust the settings.

Let's see if this works. These are the Zip files that you can download from my Dropbox. These are exactly what you get from subarunet. Once downloaded continue on with STEP 3 instructions. Those can be found on post #1.

Files:
BASE: https://www.dropbox.com/s/f0oiac4jsqier5f/Rel_UE.19.22.70_NAFTA_BASE_PRODUCTION.SystemOnly.zip?dl=0

MID: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ndfpviu08w830n/Rel_UE.19.22.70_NAFTA_MID_PRODUCTION.SystemOnly.zip?dl=0

HIGH: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o0ochceu6f4fwid/Rel_UE.19.22.70_NAFTA_HIGH_PRODUCTION.SystemOnly.zip?dl=0

Do you happened to have 19.25.70 update? I heard this came out this week. If so can you share it?

Ok, makes sense. I did not see anything new released when i looked last night. The files posted now are the most current. I'm glad many people have been able to download and enjoy. Sorry it has not worked for everyone.

Mine updated over WiFi! I didn't think that was working was it was very easy and straight forward.

I received an email from Subaru on the 15th telling about update and providing WiFI instructions on how to install. I find it interesting that a car company would promote people doing their own software update but I guess it saves them money vs. a dealer doing it.

I turned on auto updates but really dislike the notification every time I start my car telling me it's up to date.

I picked up my 2020 Sport last Saturday and setup the wifi to connect to my homes wifi. Mine also says it has updated and keep getting the " Your device's software is up to date." message each time I start the car. I checked in settings > system > and found that my software version is Rel_UA.19.01.70. Can you check with yours to see what you have? Reading up on previous messages here it seems the latest software is Rel.19.22.70.

Im not sure why that seems odd. Individuals update their smartphones and computers (both incredibly important items to most owners, like their vehicles). And, as you concluded above, if YOU do it instead of the dealer, the manufacturer doesn’t have to pay the dealership.

We’d better get used to it... it’s the direction all car manufacturers are headed...

I recently recieved an email from Subaru saying the current versions are Rel_UE 19.22.7 (via wifi) or Rel_UE 19.25.70 (via subaru-maps.com). Suggest you forgo the wifi update, since it's not recognizing that you have an old version, and instead download from subaru-maps.com to a thumb drive.

Edit.
The TSB provided in the very first post includes this tidbit that indicates your current version is current??

On any model other than 2019 Legacy/Outback equipped with versions Rel_UA.19.01.70 or Rel_UD.19.17.70, there will be no improvements if the current software is applied as the softwarethese vehicles have is already equivalent to the latest update.

The Subaru letter is more recent than the TSB and makes no mention of Rel_UA.19.01.70. If it were me, I would still download from subaru maps.com.
