I cannot figure out the variables that determine if the door ajar alarm (audible ding) will go off or not. Sometimes it dings and sometimes it doesn't. Can someone shed some light on this situation. Here's what I do know:

  • I know it doesn't ding when I unplug my iPhone BEFORE I turn the car off It DOES ding if I unplug it after I turn the car off.
  • I also know that if I turn off the car, open the door, and it's dinging, I can close and reopen the door and it stops.
Anyone else have intermittent door alarms??

I have had the same problem. I have no idea why it dings sometimes and sometimes it doesn’t. I always feel like I left something ON or I haven’t shut it off properly, you know those intermittent stages you can have while parked. It’s a complicated vehicle to say the least.

And god forbid you take your seatbelt off while still driving and THEN open the door and put it into PARK. lol That alert is even more annoying. Although there’s a way to disable that one ..

I’ve yet to identify a pattern. Mostly ignore it now. Used to be two things would cause a car to do this. Lights on or a key in the ignition.

Pattern
If your ignition/acc is off (equivalent of the key removed) prior to opening the door = no alarm ajar
If door open before ignition/acc is off = alarm ajar
If ignition/acc is turned off after the door is already open it alarm ajar stays on till door switch is pressed (or door closed)
