There are two types of remote starts. The one I have at least (the type that's its own device), opening the door does not shut the car off.
i have a 2017 forester xt with factory installed remote start.Did they fix the remote start where when you open the door, the car shuts off?
I was wrong. Didn't notice when the salesman demo'd the feature. But now finally trying for myself, yes the car goes turns off when the door's opened. Sorry for the misinformation. Assumed I would have noticed such an obvious thing. There are two types of remote starts. The one I have at least (the type that's its own device), opening the door does not shut the car off.

The aftermarket ones i've had and known do not do this. They will lock the door though so no one can go in the car w/o key fob unlock.Every remote start I have ever had worked that way. It's not just a Subaru thing.
MY19’ Sport does not turn off when opening door. Remote Start using Subaru App in my case. Car locks and will remain locked unless you physically unlock car using either the handle or the keyfob. This is for the 2019? This is annoying if true.
Not every **I see you said that you've owned** ... my Ford OEM doesn't (thankfully) but you cannot get it into gear without the keyfob with you.Every remote start I have ever had worked that way. It's not just a Subaru thing.
