well looks like there is some issue with the CVT, not because are warranted 100k miles is a done deal? can be really costly to fix it after the warranty.
automatic 9 speed transmission looks like are more reliable in the long run.
also people install a extra cooling system for the cvt transmission to avoid to run it hot where you can damage it.

Are you looking to buy a new car and keep it over 100,000 miles? That is a lot, though plenty of people do it. Keep in mind that the Subaru cost several thousand less than comparably equipped competitors. You have to weigh that against the possibility that the transmission could have problems after 100,000 miles.

I have a Jeep wr with 195000km , 9years old,so yes, I am not replacing car often,I do understand what you are saying and make a lot of sense if you lease it and replace the car after 5 years.i really love the car and the panoramic roof, no car are so bright like the ascent.
competitors like Tell,Palis, transverse, highlander are really costly compare of what the Subaru offer on the limited edition.
I just don't want to deal to service !!!

I'd say get what you love and hope for the best. Life's too short to always hedge your bets. Or get what you love and trade it in when you're just shy of 100K miles. Do you have to keep the car over 100K miles? Subarus have good resale value. So you should owe a lot less than it's worth (or have it fully paid off) by then. The alternative is to pay thousands more for something you don't love as much, just so you can potentially keep the thing you don't love as much for longer. Just my 2 cents.

I also wonder if there's a way to get a warranty (even through third parties) beyond 100K miles
Edit: It looks like there are option for 200 to 250K warranties.

There have been more than a few reported issues with the new Ascent 2.4T. Motors blowing tons of smoke and some grenading.

I've had two (two as a time) CVT's so far, and I haven't had any issues with them
