Hey folks,

Quick question here. I watched our local meth addict break out several car windows on our block with a golf club setting off a bunch of alarms. Our rear passenger window was shattered but no alarm sounded. I'm wondering if no alarm for a broken window is normal...maybe trying to steal the car would set it off..? Just curious. Thanks for the knowledge.

What year is your car? The factory alarm system in Foresters at least for 2015-18 won't sound the alarm (horn honks/ lights flashing) when a window is hit or broken. Just when doors are opened. See this thread: https://www.subaruforester.org/threads/very-confused-about-alarm-systems.697850/ Window breakage would trip alarm if you had an optional Subaru shock sensor installed, or an aftermarket alarm system installed. Not sure if Subaru even offers the shock sensor anymore for Forester after 2018 model year. https://estore.subarupartswarehouse.com/p/Subaru__/Security-System-Shock-Sensor/49925688/H7110SG000.html
