Hi Folks,

For those that opted for the OEM remote start with fob, does your engine stay on after you open the door, and does the climate control automatically switch to Auto? The manual is confusing on this point.

I did try searching, but everything is relating to the cellular based remote start. Sorry if I missed it. Could you please point me any existing threads?

Thanks.

@fryrice8850 As far as I know, non of the oem remote starts keep the car running if door opened.
This is especially true if you have the keyless ignition. As in smart key system.
If you do have keyless system even most aftermarket remotes shut engine off at door open.

If you don't need/want the RS with the app , I would go with aftermarket unless the price is close enough.
I recently switched to Toyota RAV4 hybrid, really wanted a hybrid and don't like the Crosstrek, and it was over 200$ different in my area between dealer and local installer. Dealer wanted almost 600$
My local guy charged 350.
If I wanted long range fob it would have been about 100 more.

A comment on this video about the Remote Start with Fob claims "if you press the unlock button on the remote before opening any door, the engine will not shut off ".
Sorry I don't know if it's true, (after debating for a while I ended up choosing the Starlink cellular Remote Start instead of the installed Fob version) just passing it along in case someone with the Fob Remote Start can confirm.
