2018 HU updated - still unable to connect Airplay or MirrorLink!

I was finally able to bring my 2018 Forester XT to have the HU updated per FSB 15-205-16R. The new software is NU9411. I find no improvement. Still unable to connect Airplay or MirrorLink. The Starlink works but is practically useless. For example, there is a map software, Magellan, but it gives me the following message: "Your firmware is not compatible. Please visit a Subaru dealer to upgrade the firmware". I have been getting the runaround since I bought this car. I understand that a someone filed a law suite on this. Did anyone try the Lemon Law?

Any ideas on how to resolve the problem?

I bought my 2018 back in September 2018 by December I replaced it with a Kenwood 9904s maestro rr but had to use 2017 firmware idatalink and had to to keep the telemetric to have the front speakers and STARLINK to work. I am using the public beta iOS 13 and CarPlay is awesome. I did a similar thing with my previous ride although no carplay back in 2006.

To my understanding CarPlay is not available for the 2018
Does Subaru make any claim it supports AirPlay or MirrorLink on your model?

Unless it’s documented in official Subaru documentation, no Lemon Laws would be applicable or enforceable...

Hi Lou,

Thanks for the info. I bought mine in October 17 and have been struggling since. Your solution seems perfect. The price of the HU is reasonable. I have three questions:
There are three other brands, any reason you chose Kenwood?;
This is the first car in 60 years that I bought and cannot get the its shop manual. Have you instructions for the installation and mods ?;
Where did you get the firmware?

Thanks.

Nick
I just pick the Kenwood as it was on sale. Instructions at NAIOS form (sp) the fellow was phil12v that had the instructions especially the telemetrics if you have that I do subscribe to STARLINK. You can’t use the on board Mike but it is active. Maestro has two versions SW and Rr. I did choose the Rr as it will show voltage not any more unless update the Rr to Rr2. The had no firmware for my 2018 Foz as something changed on the Can lines hence the 2017 firmware . The most difficult part was stuffing the telemetrics to lower part! You can t-tap the speakers wires if not using the telemetrics STARLINK.
My son did most of labor as did audio installation 20 years ago that really help.
Rear camera works with the SU2 harness oh power ant means power amp in the radio otherwise am/fm will not work. You’ll need the adapters there may be some soldering not much. I did keep the infotainment 7” system but at 73 probably keep the car till I have to go to nursing home lol! I probably did not answer all as I typing on iPhone not at my computer!
I’ll add more.
