So I bought and installed the factory kit to remote start our 2018 forester. Installed by the numbers. Actually really go instructions. Well all done and buttoned up. Started with key as the directions say, all warning lights out systems look A Ok. Press the remote fob as required, get beeps and lights and nothing. No start? I see at the end of the directions about system registration. Is this the cause? Doesn't say you have to but do you? Anyone have information on this? greatly appreciate it!

HI,
The dealer must program the module to the cars computer for it to function, and that can only be done with the Subaru select monitor.

Had the Dealer appointment, they programmed the remotes and the most surprising thing, they didn't charge me anything, Zero! No actually knowing what it does I should have gone aftermarket. Really the car shuts down when you open the door! Why start twice. For a company that seems to have a pretty good product, what are they thinking?????

It's a security feature I believe. That way, no one can just open the car door and drive off. But yea, they should at least give us the option to disable shutting the car off when opening the door. Starting the car twice is a bit annoying.
