Living in the PNW and having family back East and loving road trips, we've take our Forester from Seattle to Newfoundland in 2019, and just this month, to the Finger Lakes and DC. The car, which we bought new, has now reached 84,000 miles and did this latest trip perfectly, getting 25.5 mpg overall (actual gallons purchased divided by corrected odometer readings - see center display 26.4 mpg claim for this same trip segment). We got to the summit of Mt. Evans CO 14,200 ft elevation, and the car would have gotten to lap the track at Watkins Glen International Raceway (NY) if their Drive Day hadn't been canceled at the last minute. Also note, 23.1 mpg lifetime mpg average per the trip computer, which has never been reset since new. (This is about 22 mpg true mpg per my same calibration.) We are still getting near-negligible oil consumption, the dipstick was only slightly below full at the end of this trip. The bike-carrying was for the Bon Ton Roulet ride in the Finger Lakes, highly recommended. The two bikes on the roof were only on the eastbound leg; they were shipped back west and we carried only the one bike on the hitch rack back home.
