2017 Forester 2.5i. Is it possible to add the necessary parts to convert from manual to power liftgate? The remote has the button for the liftgate.

I would like to say anything is possible but this probably would not be worth the cost/effort. There are a lot of parts and details (lots of trim, lift motor, possible body control module programming) that would have to be addressed.

I personally wish my Forester didn't have this feature at all. It's operation is so slow and occasionally when I do use it there is a large delay from when I press the button to where the motor actually does anything.

Thanks for reminding me how slow the powered liftgate is. I drove a Nissan Rogue recently with the feature, found it quite convenient. The Rogue has decent lighting in the rear too. i can see why people are buying them, but for us, it's still a lower quality Nissan with poor AWD.

Agree the motor is rather slow. The new 2019 Forester motorised tailgate is noticeably faster.

That said, you can manually open the tailgate if you are in a hurry

Just want to add, there’s an aftermarket accessories available to add power lift gate to any car and to your subaru. Cost approximately less than $500. Wiring and installation is very easy. If you’re looking to use OEM parts it will be quite expensive and might have to update your body integrated unit as the circuits have an input and output controlled by the computer.
