How can the condenser on a 2017 Forester need to be replaced? In 40 years of driving, we have never had to replace a condenser. Online there seems to be a continuing problem with the condensers on the Forester. Not at all impressed with this vehicle. Expensive repair on a relatively new car that has never been off road.

Ours leaked out in July, well under 3 years and 36k miles, and was replaced under warranty. Not a good thing, but it's clearly a bad supplier. I've heard it said that if a lot of vehicles have the same problem, that is a sign of consistent quality control....on the other hand, if they have a lot of unrelated and serious problems, that is a bad sign. If you are out of warranty, I still believe that your dealer or Subaru of America will take care of you.

I got lucky and had the condenser on my 2017 replaced under the pandemic extended warranty. My warranty ended late May. It was extended to September and 40k miles.

My Forester has less than 11,000 miles but is over 1 year out of warranty. I don't drive much. My condenser failed but Subaru replaced it free of charge. This seems to be standard with this defect.
