Remove or swing down glovebox.
Remove cabin filter.
Turn on fan to high speed and see if anything blows out of there. Cycle through modes as well.
It stands to reason that if the noise only started after filter replacement, that's the first place to look.
Also, with everything stripped out, get someone to drive the car while your head is in the glove compartment listening.
