I noticed what appears to be seepage from the CVT pan gasket at a corner, would a tightening of the pan or a new gasket be covered under the 10 yr/100k extended warranty? Otherwise I'd have my independent Subaru shop take care of it.

I emailed SOA about it, will see what they say but from what I've found out researching this sounds like this would be covered under warranty.

Had vehicle in at dealer today for an already scheduled brake fluid flush and had them check out the CVT leak. "Technician inspected transmission, Found minor seepage, No leaks found." The service advisor said I can bring back vehicle for a day for a more thorough inspection. Which I will do soon.

Seepage is a leak and it's most likely coming from the CVT pump cover. Which requires removal of the CVT to remove and reseal the Pump cover. Had mine done at 27K.

Yeah seepage is a leak whatever they say. I have 23k on mine.

Will for sure be covered by warranty. And 50/50 that it is actually the pan gasket. It can really look like the pan gasket is leaking, but actually be seeping down from higher up on the CVT unit and collecting around the pan seal. They resealed my pan gasket twice before putting UV dye in the fluid to find out it was coming from a different area.

Did you notice the leak because of a puddle of fluid on the ground?

I noticed it while under car changing the oil and was checking out things while under there. All I could see was some dark discoloration on one corner of the trans. pan gasket and what looked like oil/fluid on two of the pan bolts. I have an appt at dealer in 2 wks to have this looked at more. The express service tech who flushed my brake fluid and checked this leak out told the service advisor it looked like a seal was cracked and seeping a little. The advisor said this new appt. will have an experienced tech who knows transmissions.

Good deal, no puddle is a good sign. Mine was puddling like a poorly trained puppy which alerted me to the issue, and subsequently needing to replace the whole CVT unit.

Updating this issue, I left it at dealer for a more thorough diagnosis inspection and no leaks were found: "Customer reports oil leaking, inspected vehicle and found no leaks on the transmission, a slight build up of cosmoline which is an anti rust wax that is used for shipping was found and cleaned off all ok at this time." The advisor replied to my question on why did the tech in the previous inspection mention a cracked seal with "the express service techs don't have the experience of the regular techs." To be fair I had asked for them to check out what looked like a trans. leak at the previous scheduled service for a brake fluid flush. Anyway guess that's good news but I will keep an eye out whenever I'm under the vehicle.

So where was your cvt leaking from?

The bell housing I believe? Some larger seal towards the front of the unit that UV dye eventually revealed. Once they said they would be replacing the whole thing I stopped getting detailed answers.

Good to hear yours is not actually leaking.
