On mine the pop-up messaging works periodically and - when it does - its more annoying than not. I've noticed it seems to work well with certain Verizon locations and not at all with others. When I travelled to Kentucky it was working very well, but in Mississippi it seemed to depend on what tower I was being serviced by. Anyway, once they started popping up - it would list every message no matter how long ago I got it and whether I had already viewed it or not. In the end, I turned it off. For the record I use a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3. The bluetooth calling functionally always has worked spot on - just not the texting.Hi,
I am new to this forum and a proud owner of a 2014 Forester which I purchased in October 2013. The Bluetooth Radio/Nav system worked fine for two months and then stopped. The dealer ordered a new radio in January and they just installed it yesterday. My phone paired, connected and received calls with no problem. However, I really really need text messages to pop-up along with the list of response options as it did before. I have the same phone, (Droid Razr Maxx HD), as I did before and it is HFP and MAP compatible.
The owners manual says to Hit Messages to Retrieve Messages and once I am in there I can adjust the Settings to allow the Pop-up texting. However, when I Hit Messages, I get "Messages not Retrieved" and hence I cannot get into the next screen to adjust the Settings. I don't particularly care to even receive the old messages but mostly want to advance to the next screen to access the Settings.
Any ideas?
Overall, I really have come to like the Nav system (I know others do not) - but the pop-up texting is annoying.
