She's a beauty! What do you think of the CVT? I like how they work now compared to when they first came out

Thanks @Boxa_2009 - the photo doesn't do the colour justice, but I had to up the exposure to see the Fozzy in a shady spot...

CVT seems good, compared to earlier versions for sure. I'll take Fozzy offroad sometime over the next month so will be able to test it out and X-Mode too. Tyres probably won't be upgraded at that time, but that'll give a baseline for tyre comparison later. Cheers

... and that's the last year of that color (called Marine Blue Pearl) for the Forester. 2015 swapped out to quartz blue...

At least here in North America. My own 2014 Forester 2.5 Limited is also the Marine Blue Pearl...

There's a lot of mods... but no engine swap.

Fix "Fill Washer Fluid" warning light always on

After using the windscreen washer regularly, the warning light went out. So something started working again - perhaps the float came unstuck???🤷 The car had been sitting unused for months when I bought it so meehhhh... 🤷

Good job! Quick question, is there a second reservoir for rear washers? Or do they share the same water reservoir in the engine bay. My rear washer was working but not now even with a full tank?

Investigate audio drop outs Bluetooth <=> Android

My Android phone runs v7.0 (with Samsung bloatware...). I ran Android software updates which included Bluetooth fixes and so far the Fozzy Bluetooth <=> Android phone hasn't dropped out again while streaming music... so far... 🤞🤞🤞

Update: dropped out again so forget Bluetooth and loaded up 32GB USB of music... plays perfectly now! ;)

Good question @Boxa_2009! Short answer - just 1 reservoir. Longer answer... I just got my hands on some new washer fluid additive, added it to the front reservoir without considering there could be a rear reservoir too. Driving along and using the wipers and washer with new fluid, I suddenly thought about a rear reservoir, but after running the rear washer/wiper for 10-20 sec. I could see a few bubbles on the rear glass. Putting 2 and 2 together I got 3.5 = there is probably just 1 reservoir in your average SJ Foz ;)

Towing Notes...

Towed a pod style camper (700 kg/1540 lbs) for 3000 kms/1860 miles. Fuel usage higher of course (log above), and engine temperatures increased. i.e. on a hot Australian summer day (35°C/95°F) the highest engine temp. I saw was 115°C/239°F

Off-roading Notes...

Did some light off-road / muddy tracks on the weekend. X-Mode worked a charm on 1 slippery gravel track - only noticed 1 wheel lock-up which was when I first engaged X-Mode (I was already on the steep and slippery track)

Getting feet wet and muddy...

SJ AU 2014 key fob battery replacement... (short story made long...)

The battery in our spare key needed replacing - it was a simple process, I only needed a flat blade screwdriver, a small Phillips head screwdriver, and a new CR1620 battery...

Use a flat blade screwdriver to pry open the key fob at the gap in the corner shown...
547723

A few more gentle clicks to pull the tabs open and remove the cover and expose another cover...
547720

Remove the screws to expose the battery, hazar!
547721

New CR1620 installed and fob reassembled easily. Spare key fob now works again... hooray!
