Looking to replace daughters 2004 Forester that a deer totaled over weekend. Looking at 2013 or 2014 CrossTrek with 5MT. Does the 2.0l engine in both years have timing belt or chain? Has to be a consideration when buying used with mileage approaching 100k. Thanks

Thanks for the info on the timing chain vs. belt. Turns out I found a 2015 Forester Premium 6MT in burnished bronze, essentially the twin to my car except a year older, with only 51k miles. I've been over the car with a fine-toothed comb and can't find a thing wrong with it. Very clean. Oil/filter change, new air & cabin filters and serviced all brakes over the weekend. Think my daughter is going to love this car . . . if I decide now to sell it to her.
