Last week, i started to overheat, and nursed my wifes 2011 Forester 2.5x home.

Upon crawling underneath, I discovered a pinhole leak in a very rusty Water pipe assembly. This is a curved hard line that goes from the front of the engine back towards the heater hoses.

I have it completely disconnected, but for the life of me cannot find a way to twist it out. please tell me I don't need to lift the engine, or drop the entire front subframe to replace this $60 part.

Someone please help. my other car was totaled yesterday by a large deer who decided to play chicken.

Thanks in advance.

edit: pic added to make it easier.

Hi there, sorry about your car trouble.
I had the same problem this spring, spent a day trying to get the pipe out, gave up and took it to my mechanic. He had to lift the engine up, just an inch or two. I don’t think he disconnected anything besides the engine mounts.

For what it’s worth, I thought about cutting the center section of the pipe out and replacing it with coolant hose.
