Yep, those same PIAA Superior Bass horns back in 2015 right after I bought my Forester. Much better old Cadillac/American car sound than the excuse me wimpy beep beep Japanese Forester one.

I put real old school Cadillac horns on our 98. They get your attention.

I don't see the relay as necessary where the PIAA horns are all 2.7 amps each.

I've done direct wire replacement of horns on a number of motorcycles without a relay and without issue. So long as the amp draw is the same.

As i said before using a relay will give you full battery voltage and better sound. Also it gives you the opportunity to add a fuse to make it fool proof. It is not necessary, but I do it.

my wifes 2006 beetle had a massive beefy horn. I took them off and put them on the 2016 impreza. Once we traded for forester, i took them off and put them onto the 2019 forester.

Hella Sharptones in there now. The rad horn was easy, just removing a deflector. The bottom horn require two under panels to be released.
I stayed with stock wiring but piggy-backed an extra length of #18 in case a relay might be required.
