A little back story, I was recently in a accident with my beloved Forester, I was driving to fast and slid out and drove up on a dirt hill, very little damage was found but because I didn’t hit very much but plants. I had to get towed off because one tire was off the ground and I wasn’t high centered. I drove the car away from the scene totally fine.
The Damage!
My hood was pushed up by a half inch or less, my bumper was barley cracked on the bottom and a cross member beam was bent over by the radiator. I can live with that.
The only real concerning thing I feel is this knocking/rattling sound. It’s right under my feet and not up by the motor. I can’t feel it in the steering as a shake. It’s very random and intermittent. Sometimes it happens when I start my car up, sometimes it happens at low speeds. Sometimes stopped a light for a few seconds. I feel it when engine braking after a hard pull or speeds over 80mph coasting. Also in reverse it feels very clunky as well. In drive, the car is pretty smooth still and shifts up and down fine.
The car drives straight, it doesn’t seem like a suspension problem to me because I can feel it at times parked or not moving.
I took it into a Subaru “specialist” lol and he had it for 8 hours and couldn’t find anything and “needed more time” but I didn’t want to leave my car there over night because I was disappointed with the service.
Does anyone have any helpful insight before I take it to the next mechanic? I thinking transmisson mounts, my actual trans, or torque converter or drive shaft related. Any help would Be awesome!
