Hi, I have a manual 2010 Forester X.

I'm planning on taking it out on some soft sand dunes, but I don't know what I should be doing with traction control and VDC. I believe VDC can only be disabled by removing a fuse, which apparently also disables ABS. Should I disable these systems, or would leaving them on be a more optimal approach for soft sand?

Thanks

G'day & Welcome @Jay2010Forester Disable them if you can; you do not need ABS on sand, in fact it's better to not use your brakes at all because if you come to a stop with brakes it will create a ridge of sand in front of your wheels and make it had to start off again. Always roll to a stop unless it's an emergency of course. I always pull the ABS fuse for sand.

Check out offroadsubarus.com for some local information ;-)
