Hey guys,

I have a 2010 forester that I bought about a month ago, amazing car. It has heated seats but only the back seems to be heating on both seats. Is this supposed to be happening? Do foresters only have heated backs and not the bottom of the seat? I would think a heated seat would have both the bottom and back warm up. If the forester is supposed to have the bottom warm up is there anything I should check for to see if there is a quick fix so I don't have to replace the bottom pad if there is one?

Should have bottom and back. The bottom may have shorted and opened or something.

@RadcomTxx Thanks for the info, I just find it weird how both driver and passenger have no bottom heat. it may be a common problem. do you know if there are any connectors anywhere I can test?

Technically there would have to be a connecter, but can’t say where under or in the seat it would be.

A former coworker had an Impreza with a bad seat heater, he removed The seat, removed the base, removed the upholstery and replaced the heater element, then reverse.

It kind of folds into the foam, and it appeared that it touched itself, and burned itself out.

Digging this up a bit here but was did you ever learn what was wrong? I also have a 2010 Forester with the exact same issue as you!

I had a 2011 impreza. And the seat only worked on the low setting. On high both the seat and the back worked. Not sure if that helps. Spoke with the dealer and that was the design.

Of course sounds like your problem us different. Have you checked the relays. I'm willing to be there are 2 seperate circuits.

It seems based on this there’s just 1 relay so I’m not sure. Only thing I can think of is maybe the lowest ground (GR5) has somehow come loose and those bottom functions aren’t working? I have no idea because if it was a fuse everything wouldn’t be working. And it seems to coincidental that the half of both seats just stopped working altogether. Not sure how to proceed.
