Hey guys i have a 2010 forester XT all stock and thinking of changing my stock exhaust to a stock 2018 wrx sti exhaust. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

It will fit, but the exhaust will drone lke the dickens. The `16+ exhaust use a differemt flange for the muffler. Using the stock intermediate pipe won't work.

I've had similar setups with my 4eat XT....

`11 wrx (Sold for profit)
`16 wrx... (Dumped for a lost after modifying the mufflers)
`13 STi - (Mufflers and extra intermediate pipe in garage rafters

All of them using the a `11 WRX intermediate pipe, which has the same resonator like you posted. Due to the characteristics of the 4eat when driving, AND the second port on the muffler. It allows a negative pressure wave to develop back in the muffler creating havoc with sound to create our wonderful drone and booming. (Per speculation on my part.

But, the fix is shoving two Scotch Brite Stainless Steel scrubbers into the inside port of each muffler. (Not too far, just past the little lip so it doesn't pop back out under pressure, but not too far in to enter the chamber itself)

Even with the scrubbers, there is a totally tolerable off idle drone, and 1500rpm (40mph) drone. Not enough for the wife to complain, unless we are in rush hour traffic.

The STi/WRX exhaust IS the budget way to mod. But a lot more people are happier with Invidia Q300's And the Turbo XS, where it is single tip exhaust.

I have gone back to stock mufflers, but using WRX intermediate pipe. Stock mufflers are good for 300 hp.... Just do not sound all that spiffy. The intermediate pipe does bring a little boxer sound to the car. I haven't eliminated the resonator yet, as I am content with it...... For now.

Whichever direction you decide to take, definitely spray paint the back of the muffler black. It will blend in better and helps the tips "pop"....

Take note, blocking a port completely like the picture below is NOT advisable. It only exasperates the sound waves to that of a sledge hammer against your skull, not that I have experienced that. ;)

Have you looked at MRT's setup?

I just got the Mann Engineering catback XT exhaust. It's made entirely of beautiful shiny stainless with some amazing welding and fit-and-finish. I love the way it sounds very aggressive under boost, but nearly silent when cruising at highway speeds. It has a great low burble at idle, but it's muted.

The biggest drawback is it's one of the more expensive options on the market.

Here's a video of the sound when revving (video by Mann Engineering with my car):

Here's a video I made of the cold-start sound. There is a short gap where my phone microphone cut out in the middle. 30 seconds after starting the engine it quiets down to the point where the belts and fuel pump are making as much noise as the exhaust, but it still sounds great from behind the car.

@Banjor , not clicking on that video link.... My system reads it as an Unsecure site with out of date certificates...

I'd watch it if you uploaded to YouTube?

One link goes to Facebook, the other goes to my site that I run. There are no certificates on the second link because it’s not a secure link. It’s just a video file, you can download it or not but don’t expect it to be secure. Any third party at the Internet cafe will know all about your obsession with exhaust pipes.
You should create a member journal about that install...... :geek:

My HU hasn't died yet, but the OEM navigation sucks. And radio features are antiquated.
I spotted those series a while back, haven't pulled the trigger on it yet...

@HeyChris sure ill try to start one but im not really good at explaining stuff. Ill post the headunit here soon.

Also if you dont mind me asking, which suspension fits our forester? Like the exhaust from wrx, are the suspension fits right on as well? :)
The search engine is borked....

Bilstein USA just released their B6 (Awwww YES) & B4 (OEM equivalent) struts/shocks for the SH & SJ Foresters here in the states.
Installed the wrx/sti catback.
