I'm going to be doing the timing belt service. I'm ordering the Aisin kit, and the two accessory belts, upper and lower radiator hoses, thermostat. Anything else I should change?

Make sure you get the stretch-fit kit with your AC belt.

Does the kit come with all the idlers and waterpump? It's advised you replace all moving components while you're in there.

Also not a bad idea: Order a front crank-shaft seal. If it turns out yours is seeping, you'd kick yourself for not having one around when you have it all apart and are a 2 minute job away from replacing it (and if you don't need it, the seal isn't that expensive, you could return it...)

While you're replacing the water-pump, there's a little hose that connects the water-pump to a coolant line.

Aisin kit, hoses, and belts from Rockauto. Thermostat and new water pump bolts, and belt cover bolts from the dealer.

Might as well change the coolant too, and don't forget to add Subaru Cooling System Conditioner that your owner's manual recommends adding to Subaru Super Coolant.

If your ac belt is a stretch belt, you would need the stretch installation kit. I'm not sure when they converted to the stretch belts though. My 2010 was a stretch belt.

what about the radiator hose clamps?

Have a plan of attack if you need to remove the drivers side cam sprocket. Company23 tools makes a good cam holder.

with the SOHC I dont think i'll need a cam locking tool. I wasnt planing on replacing the cam or crank seals if they are not leaking.

By cam holder, i mean the wrench tool they make that interfaces with the cam. You dont need to lock it, but at a minimum, you will need to be able to tweak the drivers cam during the belt install....and because the drivers cam sits at the top of the lobe it has a tendancy to snap (spin), so you dont want your hand anywhere near it.

Plus, if you plan on replacing the water pump, you may need to remove the drivers.cam. On my 2010, there wasn't enough clearance between the rear t-belt cover and waterpump.

I'm spreading out the parts buying over a couple months. The Aisin TKF-006 kit, hoses and belts arrived. Aisin kit is all Japanese bearings, pump, tensioner and belt. Note, 2.5 hours of shop time. Even doing the job yourself its a about $375 in parts, with the RockAuto order and dealer parts like new bolts, coolant, and thermostat.
