So does anyone know which other Subaru model downpipes fit the 2009 FXT. I'm having a hard time finiding them listed for the 09 FXT. I'm wanting to go stage2, but I'm not sure what downpipe to go with any good reccomendations for a Catted DP brandwise? Thanks

2008+ STi/WRX and Legacy GT downpipes should be compatible. Cobb, Invidia, TurboXS and AVO make a nice downpipe, but expect to pay $550-700 for a new one.

Thanks for the help. So I have a magnaflow catback already on the car. If I add a downpipe and tune it is there any other supporting mods required? I'm new to Subarus and want to do the right thing.

No other supporting mods required. Keep in mind there is a difference among auto and manual downpipes for the 08+wrx and LGT. So look for one for either a 4EAT wrx or 5EAT lgt. Personally I run a cobb catted DP on my legacy and you can't beat the quality. Look for a used one as well to save yourself some $$$.

Does the mileage matter it has 48k
not really, a pipes a pipe as far as I'm concerned. Unless of course there are obvious dings/dents. Some say the high EGTs the hfc is exposed to in tuned vehicles can break the cat down over time.

BTW you (and maybe others) may be want to express interest in new DP that may be offered by ERZ. They currently make a catted and catless 3" DP for legacy owners and are gauging interest on making a 5EAT version. They are cheaper than the competition too @ around (but don't quote me on this) $350 shipped for catted DPs. Thread is here: Anyone interest in a catted Downpipe for a 5EAT - Subaru Legacy Forums

Is the MY08 + WRX downpipe any bigger and of benefit to the MY09XT? Will it bolt-up to the stock exhaust. If this is a benefit I might get one.

I have read that the new 09 Wrx has a higher flowing cat by 30%. So thats why I am interested in whether the 09 Wrx will fit as it should be a benefit over stock. But it is a manual dp so I dont know if there is a difference like he said between them. I would just like a specialists take on it

Regardless it will still be a small pipe with 2 cats and a plate blocking the wastegate... i.e. not the best design. You'd be better off gutting the cats on your own stock DP if you want to stick w/a factory DP

Cobb's website shows it to be the same part# as a wrx when looking it up for a fxt.
Not sure how much a difference a legacy and wrx has but the part numbers are different.

Someone here mentioned that maybe the Invidia dp will work as well? Would it bolt to the stock exhaust or should you recommend having an after market one with the same 3" diameter?

Also, Not to steer away from the thread but, it would be nice to have one merged thread with a 09 and a 10 FXT full "kit" upgrade or at least a recipe of parts needed to be at a certain power bracket.
