Hello,

New Subaru owner here, and the CEL came on with a P0026 code(as well as the traction control light). I know this can be oil level related, and the level was fine.

It may be a day or two before I can take the car in due to work, and most shops being closed on the weekend.

I just wanted to know, in the meantime, is it safe to drive with this CEL code?

Any recommendations would be helpful

@brianjwhite Newbie here, but with the same error code. My research says you are fine for a few days. You may find performance degraded because the valve timing will not be as efficient. I've also read your RPM may be limited to 4,000 or less because the circuit prevents the timing from advancing.

That's what I've been seeing. At first, I tried throwing a fresh oil change at it, and that did the trick for a few days.

I've since bought the parts to fix it, but it's WAY too cold here at the moment to switch them out with no garage.
